Ever since I had kids, Halloween has become more and more fun. My friends and I were big on Halloween and trick-o-treated all the way to high school (my height allowed me to get away with it! ).
Cody enjoyed Halloween this year and willingly participated in Trick O Treating for the first time. DJ is an old pro so he already knew the routine – trick o treat then get mom to check candy for “bad” candy (aka mom gets first pick at her favorites) before eating the candy.
Halloween isn’t complete without goody bags for classmates.
These are Cody’s….
And these are DJ’s….
And we can’t forget about the teachers…
Cody had a field trip to a little pumpkin patch with his class and he picked out this cute, little pumpkin. (One of these days I will actually plan ahead enough for us to carve a pumpkin).
One thing I miss is DJ bringing home Holiday crafts from school. I like to use the kids art work as wall décor during the holidays.
Fortunately, Cody is still bringing home LOTS of crafts. One day he came home with this little guy. I asked him who it was and he said “mom”. I asked if he was sure and he said “Ya, you!” I know my complexion is pretty fair, but come on, Cody, mom has a better tan than a ghost!
Costume time! My little Spongebob was in deep concentration while coloring at a school party.
For the first time since Kindergarten, DJ was able to wear a costume to school. He was pretty excited to wear his Kamen Rider costume all day.
The last (and very unwilling) participant in the costume category is our pup, Lexus.
Ever since DJ was little, he has had a fascination with squirrels. He comes up with elaborate stories about “squirrel cities” and the way they live . (They are pretty hilarious stories!)
Because of this odd fascination, somehow one of our nicknames for Lexus is “Lexus Squirrel”.
So when I saw this squirrel costume, I HAD to get it! I don’t think she was as excited about it as I was. Poor pup!
