October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month | Free Session

This entire month is dedicated to building awareness for Down syndrome!  I am dedicating this month to sharing our experiences these last 7 years. :)

As a mom of a child with Down syndrome, I know how difficult it can sometimes be to 1) get a great photograph of your child and 2) find a photographer that your child can trust and feel comfortable with.

To me, it is important that families have photos of their children. They grow so fast and moments slip away from us.

Photographs help us preserve not only their age, but their personality.

Throughout the month of October, I am offering free portrait sessions to individuals with Down syndrome!

The session will include:

• A 30 minute session for the individual with Down syndrome at a Solano county location of your choice
• A complimentary 8x10 print of your favorite photo
• 25% off you additional print and/or CD order

Mini “School” Portrait Sessions for Homeschool Families

It’s that time of the year.

Kids are wearing their best outfits.

Hair is glammed up with hairspray and/or gel.

Yup, it is school portrait time!

We know that nowadays, many families homeschool their children. We also know that doesn’t allow for the opportunity to have traditional school portraits to document your child at their current grade level.

So, we want to help!

From now until October 31st, MRS Photography is offering Mini Portrait Sessions for homeschooling families.

Sessions are available Mon-Fri between 9 am and 1 pm.

$30 pricing includes:

• 15 portrait session for one child
• Solano County outdoor location
• Prints – (1) 8x10, (1) 5x7 and (4) wallet prints
• Discounted pricing on additional prints

This is a $75 savings on our regular session and print pricing!

**Discounts available for 3 or more siblings!

I know it is has been awhile since I have posted here. Things have been a tad bit hectic. ;)

Mother’s Day Special

Awhile back, I received sad news from a friend. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in both breasts.

Just a few months ago, I had the honor of photographing her with her family – laughing, smiling and carefree.

I hope that every time she looks at those pictures hanging on her wall, she is reminded of her strength, beauty and the love that surrounds her.

She is a fighter and will kick cancer’s butt.

I am humbled at the thankfulness she shows me for giving her that memory of her family.

One of the hardest things for most moms (including myself) is to willingly step aside from behind the camera and get in front of it. Against my insecure-in-front-of-the-camera ways, I force myself every year to have a session with my family. Unfortunately, the older I get, the more I realize that things can change in a heartbeat, and I don’t ever want my insecurity of my self image to get in the way of my children having a lasting memory of me. They don’t care if my hair isn’t curled right. They don’t care if I never got rid of the 6-yr-old baby weight I’ve been hauling around. They just love me the way I am and are blind to all the things that I notice about myself.

With all that said…this special is for all the Moms and Grandmothers out there.

A Fall-tastic Family Session

We headed out to Rush Ranch in Suisun for this family's Fall/Holiday portrait session. 

Big brother has been in front of my camera a few times, but this was the first time I was photographing his equally adorable little sister so I was pretty excited!

Big brother was such a little ham and came up with poses all on his own. As soon as the camera was pointed at him, I got this HUGE smile!

While setting up mom, dad and sister for a family shot, big brother worked the camera!

Little sister was enjoying the sights and sounds at Rush Ranch, but took moments to give me her adorable chubby cheek smiles!

Big brother is very much in love with his little sister and made sure he gave her some big loving during the session. :)

Helping to Save Sofia

Do you remember meeting Sofia? The adorable little girl whose forever family is waiting to meet her?

I reintroduced her to you when announcing the Crab Feed and Silent Auction in her honor. (Need a ticket? Let me know!) =)

I have been trying to figure out how to help this family out in their adoption process and I finally have an idea!

Sofia just turned one on Sunday, but she didn’t get to spend it with her family. This made me want to try to help even more so she doesn’t have to spend upcoming Holidays alone without a family of her own. The thought of her possibly not even getting a birthday greeting at the orphanage breaks my heart.

In honor of Sofia’s 1st birthday, a portion of all portrait sessions booked (and paid for) between February 24, 2010 and March 6th, 2010 will be donated to Sofia’s family to assist in the adoption process so that she can hopefully come home sooner than later!

$50 from each Classic Portrait Session and $100 from each Digital Portrait Session will be donated to Saving Sofia.

Your session does not have to be completed during the time frame (2/24/10 to 3/6/10), but it must be scheduled and paid for in advance in order for the donation to be provided to the family.
