When I received the call from this family about what they wanted for their family Christmas card portrait session, I have to admit that I was beyond excited for the day of their session to come!
I had never done a session like this before and I could not wait to shoot it!
When I arrived, this handsome little fellow was dressed up ready to work (and you will see what I mean by work in a bit).
Before you look at the pictures and scratch your head , let me explain.
This super awesome family had a cool idea for their Christmas cards – a reverse role play where the kids acted as their parents (thus the “work” clothes) and the parents were the children – complete with pajamas!
Scene One….
As big brother worked away on his spreadsheet, little brother was doing some accounting with a pen behind his ear and calculator in hand. These boys were VERY cooperative and stayed in character! :)
Mom and dad were great being in character as well…
….from the yell for a runaway toy….
….to squabbling over one toy that they both wanted to play with.
Big brother put a stop to their antics by reprimanding them – finger-point-scolding and all!
Scene Two….
After play time it was time for a nap for the “children”. Big brother and little brother read them a story so they could fall fast asleep.
I hadn’t realized this when I was there, but look how big brother is kicked back with his foot relaxing on the bed.
Story time worked and the “children” were fast asleep!
Scene Three….
CHEERS to a fun session!
As big and little brother enjoyed goodies in a wine glass, the “children” drank from their sippy cups.
Just one last picture - mom and little one cuddling on the couch after a creative session.
This is the most creative session I have done and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hmmm…maybe I can start a new Christmas card tradition of my own for next year’s cards?
