Awhile back, one of the Tip Tuesdays was to not forget yourself. And by “yourself” I am referring to that person hiding behind the camera. In most of the families that I know, that person tends to be mom.
Well, I am trying to heed my own advice and get in front of the camera more. I am not saying I am liking it, but I am trying.
Recently, I decided that I needed some up-to-date shots of me for the blog, website, etc. I wanted these images to reflect my personality and show me in all my dorky glory. :)
Remember the gal that created my awesome logo? Well, she’s also a superdeeduper talented photographer!!!
Nicholle Peterson rocked this session and made me so comfortable that I think she captured my personality perfectly. She was so much fun and helped me to get out of the nervousness I was feeling at the beginning of the session.
Thanks, Nicky, for making the session so fun and for humoring me by laughing with me (you weren’t laughing AT me, right??? HAHA) with all my antics! =) I can’t wait to reciprocate and get YOU in front of my camera! ;)
Here is a sneak peek that she shared on her Facebook page.
Can I please just say that my hair was “DA BOMB” in this picture? Just kidding, but I do like that it cooperated in this pic. =)
Apparently the trick to getting really comfortable in front of the camera is to pretend you are doing your high school senior portrait session and doing what you would have done if you weren’t dressed in a drape and lacy, itchy things and had poofy 90’s hair and tons of makeup. Oh wait…I digress.
But seriously, I did tell Nicky that I was going to do what the teenagers that I have photographed have done and just be natural and pretend I am on America’s Top Model. Yes, that did mean that Nicky humored me while we stood in the middle of a pretty busy street as I posed (sorry, those pictures didn’t make it to this blog), but it was all fun! =)
The goofiness of it all made me relaxed and we sure laughed a lot.
This image says “Hey, did you know I’m a photographer AND I’m not afraid to “shoot” you”. Oh, I crack myself up!
Me trying to “work it”.

This is wonderful! Michelle you look like the "da bomb".
If my pictures of myself looked half that good I would be thrilled.
You warm heart and friendly personality really shows thru in the photos. Wonderful!
What a small world, I know Nicky! L-O-V-E her! Your pictures turned out stunning!
