My family and I are on our way home from an enjoyable trip to Washington and Oregon. 5 hours of driving down and 4 to go and we will be home!
This trip I made a conscious decision to leave my camera home. It is the first time ever that I have been armed with nothing more than my phone camera.
I felt a bit lost without my SLR, but have to admit that it was nice to enjoy a vacation and see everything with both eyes rather than through a camera lens. :)
Sure there were moments when I thought to myself "wow! It is gorgeous here with all these trees and I wish I had my camera". But I am still happy that I did not bring it. I enjoyed watching my kids play with their cousins, met my husband's high school buddies at his reunion, enjoyed time with some of my husband's close family friend, visited newborn mini horses and enjoyed a night outside by the fire making smores with the in-laws.
What was nice about all the visits was other people were taking pictures. I wasn't!!! :)
Today's tip is to leave the camera at home and just enjoy yourself while on vacation. Everything can be much more enjoyable when you enjoy the moment when it is happening and not have to see what all the fun was about when you download the pictures. :)
