Yes, my baby turned 4. I know…it happens.
4 is proving to be a good age already for Cody. Not only is he getting more vocal (with true, actual words), but he is finding his voice. And by fining his voice I mean he is learning to say “no”, “I don’t know”, “jes” (yes), “I love you” (wisely used when in the middle of doing something he is not supposed to), “Peese” (please) and most important (to me), I am now MOM. I am no longer “Bob”. To hear him say the word mom is music to my ears. He says it in a short, but sweet way. I know that in a year or so (or maybe less) I will hear the short, abrupt “MOM” or the long, drawn out, please do not embarrass me “mom”. But right now, I am enjoying the newfound sound of him saying mom and saying it with such love.
Cody has always been an independent child, but he is even more so now that he is getting older and learning to self-entertain outside of toys. For instance, the other week I saw him on the elliptical (that he is not supposed to touch) and when I called his name out he jumped off, ran to his motorcycle and drove off like nothing happened. When I asked him if he was on the elliptical machine his answer was short and to the point “Don’t know”.
I can tell this is going to be an interesting year. =)
