A Year of Firsts– 2010

2010 has been an amazing year of firsts for me. The year was far beyond what I had expected it to be and I am thankful for all the new friends I have made through this business as well as the families that have touched my life.

I am looking forward to 2011 and I hope it brings you and your family much love, happiness, and success!

This year, I would like to focus more on special needs photography and show the beauty of those with special needs. This last year was such an eye opener for me and helped build my awareness and I hope to do the same to others.

To commemorate the 1st of the year, here is my list of 1sts for 2010 (in no particular order):

  1. First year to specialize in photographing children with special needs. It is possibly one of the most rewarding “jobs” I have
  2. Became the photographer and media director for i Bar and Green Valley Salon & Spa. I have watched these two businesses evolve and am excited to be a part of each.  I can also now tell you that I am addicted to eyebrow threading (no more tweezers for me LOL)!
  3. Received my first concussion while ice skating – painful, but still a fun experience ice skating with girlfriends
  4. Became the photographer for SolanoFit – an awesome magazine focused on health, beauty, fitness and fashion in Solano County (January issue is now out! Grab the digital edition on their website)
  5. First time one of my “articles” was published. The Fall edition of Dandelion Magazine (Bay Area) included our experience of Cody’s 1st ER Visit and featured some images of Cody
  6. First bite by a black widow – and yes, I am living to talk about it (okay, it wasn’t that dramatic, but I can now cross “bitten by a black widow” off my list, right?)

I am looking forward to another year of firsts in 2011 and cannot wait to get them going! My list includes:

  1. Starting Mommy Photography classes (Anyone up for a February or March class?)
  2. Creating a charity calendar for Down Syndrome Awareness featuring local, Bay Area children with Down Syndrome (stay tuned for a model search announcement)
  3. Begin mini session dates at specific locations (maybe center them around themes (Easter, Trains, etc) – anyone interested or have ideas???)

And many more ideas running through my head…

What are your goals for 2011? I would love to hear them! Smile

Happy New Year to all of you and I hope 2011 is an AWESOME year for you!!!
