7 years ago today, I gave birth to the first true love of my life, DJ.
In honor of his 7th Birthday, here are the top 7 things that he has taught me:
- Unconditional Love – I was told that when you first lay eyes on your baby the feeling is incredible. It was BEYOND incredible. I couldn’t believe he was mine.
- Self Realization – It is amazing how much like me he is. Apparently, there are a number of times when he sounds like me and I can’t handle the way I sound. LOL
- Laughter Heals – He is such a funny kid that when we were going through everything when his brother was born, he would break out in song and dance to put a smile on our faces.
- Persistence – If you keep asking, eventually mom will give in. This can be used in different aspects of life, too. :)
- To Have FUN! – he is always willing to stop what he is doing and be silly with me, dance and sing with me and his brother, and just be goofy!
- Eagerness – he is always interested in learning new things. He makes me want to do the same.
- Be a Kid Again – I enjoy watching things through his eyes and the “aha!” moments that he finds
Now excuse me as I wipe my tears after writing that. Why did that make me cry?????
Now the top 7 things I love most about him:
- He is HILARIOUS – if you are a Facebook friend you get to hear “DJ Quotes of the Days” and learn about his antics. My boy is FUNNY!
- He keeps me on my toes – which in turn equals I get my exercise physically and mentally
- He is curious – I love that he wants to learn about everything and read about it or “look it up on google” as he puts it. :)
- He is smart – he volunteers to read throughout the day without being told to and during the school year was no match for the 2nd grade class he would go to for reading. He brings up facts that stump me. :)
- He is a natural athlete – I love that he took after his dad and not me when it comes to his athletic abilities! LOL
- He can play and complete any video game he plays – After working at Scandia for 5 years, this is impressive to me! :)
- He is just like me – the same things that drive me batty about him are the same things I love about him because he is just like me
Today his birthday itinerary consisted of lunch at Applebee’s (his reasoning was because it was good, close and at the mall near the other stores he wanted to go to), Game Stop and lastly, Build a Bear. Meet Camo the Karate Bear.
Happy Birthday my dear son, DJ. Continue to smile, be full of life, laugh often, and drive your mommy crazy with questions! :)
