Solano County Special Needs Portrait Photography/Photographer – Autism
Last weekend, I had the of pleasure meeting this beautiful little girl who happens to share a birthday with my Cody. Happy 10th birthday, Miss S!
Miss S’s mom contacted me when I was looking for special needs models. It turns out that not only did we have a common friend, but we are also part of the same Matrix Parent Network.
I was excited, yet nervous for this session. This was the first time I was photographing a special needs child outside of Down Syndrome and honestly, I was a little nervous.
Miss S put me fears at ease immediately. I arrived to meet them and Miss S was ready to go and play. She gave me the obligatory “hello” expression, but I know that I rank nowhere near first priority when playing outside is an option in any child’s eyes!!! (not even my own!) =)
Miss S’ favorite thing to do at the playground is the tire swing. Her face absolutely lit up when the tire swing became available. She made me want to jump on the swing and I do not even enjoy them because I have vertigo! Her excitement was contagious, though!
This is my favorite image from the session. She is just so happy to be there.
What I loved most about Miss S is the peacefulness of her expressions and actions. She is a beautiful little girl with such expression in her eyes. Her eyes showed her emotion – whether she was deep in thought, concentrating or happy – I could read it in her eyes. I enjoyed watching her as she absorbed her surroundings, soaked it all in and enjoyed it.
I was honored to be there to watch Miss S climb up the jungle gym bar-ladder-thingy (that is the official name of it, right? HEEHEE) for the first time. She had such determination on her face and was climbing that thing no matter what!
Her parents told me that she had never done that before and I was suppressing tears as she made it to the top of the jungle gym. Thank goodness the camera was in front of my eyes blocking the moisture and that the tears that made it out were able to be passed off as “allergies”. =)
I was so proud of you Miss S!!!!!!
And of course a session of a beautiful child with gorgeous, enviable lashes would not be complete without an eyelash shot.
Thank you Miss S and family for the honor of meeting Miss S and enjoying an afternoon at the park with you all!
