Tip Tuesday – Capture Emotion

Part of storytelling is capturing all the details. Even details that you think are not flattering – the screaming tantrums and the crying (babies have the CUTEST pout). That also includes the emotionally trying moments. The moments that can stress you out and the last thing on your mind is grabbing a camera.

My kids will probably go to therapy for this later :), but I like to take my camera out in the middle of their tantrums. THEY don’t like it, but honestly, I know that when they get older their tantrums will be for more major reasons and I am going to miss them crying over Han Solo’s arm falling off. :)

During photo sessions, I tend to keep shooting during the meltdowns as well. I love the sweet look of a pouty face and I would miss moments like these if I didn’t keep shooting…

So even if your child (or subject) is having a breakdown, just keep shooting! You will love these pictures in 10 or so years when your child is as teenager! ;)

I couldn't agree more - I've got some really good ones of my son that are priceless!
