Pretty Pink Little Cupcakes - All in a Row

It has been awhile since I made a cake or cupcakes, so my cousin Valerie's birthday was the perfect opportunity to get baking!

I can't even remember when the last time I made a cake from scratch was so I decided to make cupcakes from scratch. Valerie likes chocolate so I decided on chocolate sour cream cupcakes.

Here the cupcakes are straight out of the oven. WARNING: nudity - these cupcakes have NO icing!!!

One of my favorite parts of making cakes and cupcakes is the frosting. It gets messy, but the outcome is (usually) beautiful!

My first attempt at frosting these babies didn't turn out so well, but the 2nd one was everything I imagined - a pretty pink cloud atop a chocolate mountain of scrumptiousness (this may not be a real word, but it gets my point across LOL).

Here she is...all alone...by her lonesome self...

Now here she is with all her friends!

Although making these pretty little things was a lot of fun, I think I had more fun taking pictures of them.

Unlike the 2 other kids I birthed, they didn't talk back, run away, refuse to smile or stick their tongue out at me.

And lastly, my favorite picture of them all. Did I purposely stage the prettiest one front and center? Bet your bottom dollar I did!

Cody's New Cracker Bowl

Cody received a package in the mail today. He was very excited about it! The first thing he did was take his bowl of crackers and put it inside his new gift - his new huge cracker bowl!

His cracker bowl fit perfectly and he loved eating out of the huge cracker bowl! Man, I love those sausage fingers! :)

Check out the cool ergonomic style of his new....

POTTY CHAIR!

I LOVE this potty! We had this exact one for DJ and I like it so much better than a regular potty. Because it is like a saddle, it is easier for kids to get on and off it instead of trying to back into it.

I just wish I would have realized that this one didn't come with the DVD or CD. DJ used to love to watch the DVD daily because he enjoyed watching Joshua have accidents! :) And nothing beats listening to a CD loudly in the car as it sings "I love to go to the potty potty! Yes, I love my potty potty!" Yes, I made sure my windows were ALWAYS closed while the CD was playing! :)

Double Double Come to Mama!

It's no secret - I need to lose weight!!!!!

My cousin, Christine, and I have a joint effort to lose weight right now. Our diet of choice - low carb! We've both done it before so we figure we can do it again! :) We started our diet the day after Labor Day. We gave ourselves Labor Day weekend as the "last hoorah" to eat whatever we wanted! :)

Why am I posting this on the blog and sharing this with you? Because...if I tell people that I really want to lose the weight then I need to do it!!!!

Up until last Friday, I was doing great and lost 8 pounds!! WOOHOO!

Then last Friday happened and it started a carb-binging weekend. :(

Don't worry, though! I am back on track. Yesterday started a new week for me and I am determined to stay on track. Can you help me? How, you ask? It's simple - ask me how I'm doing. I won't want to lie to you and tell you I'm doing good if I'm not so I have to stay good just in case you do ask.

Today's lunch was a very satisfying low carb meal - In N Out Double Double Protein Style (no bun, just lettuce wrapped around meat and cheese) and a mini diet coke.

Isn't it beautiful? :)

And just in case you are wondering, it was DELICIOUS! I don't need no stinkin' bun to enjoy my In N Out! :)

"I Don't Like Taking Pictures!!!!"

One of the funnest parts of being a photographer is the challenge of getting my little friends to warm up to me and smile in spite of how much they don't want their photos taken.

J was probably the best challenge I have ever had. :) He flat out told me "I don't like taking pictures!" Oh, the challenge was ON! :)

His anti-papparazi feelings were apparent in this expression! It is one of my favorites from the day. It speaks volumes!!! :)

Brother and Sister, M & M (J's cousins), were excited to have their portraits taken and were little models! :) (NOTE: I use the term "little" lightly since Big Brother is only 9 and only about 3 inches shorter than I am!!!)

J's brother, Little J, was such a calm, quiet baby. I just love how his eyes "smile" when he smiles.

Little J and his loving cousin. Such sweet and loving expressions on both their little faces.

There is nothing more satisfying during a session than getting this....

...out of someone that already squared me up as the enemy at the beginning of the session! :)

Mission Impossible accomplished! Tom Cruise has nothing on me! LOL

It's Not Fair

There have been many times in my life when I have said that life wasn't fair. It ranged from things as unimportant as it raining when I just washed my car to trying to figure out why our baby had been born with a heart defect.

Today, next to Cody's heart condition, was one of the "Life is TOTALLY not fair" days. After 3 weeks in the hospital, my cousin finally had a diagnosis for his 8 month old daughter's brain tumor. After weeks of hoping that the delay in results of the biopsy were because the tumor was benign, they found out news and it was heartbreaking.

Their daughter has a very rare and aggressive form of cancer called ATRT. It is so rare that it effects 3 in 1 million children. Most of them are under 3.

If you believe in prayers, please pray for baby Gabby. She is going to endure very aggresive chemotherapy so please pray that she (and her family) stay strong during the process and that the outcome is a positive one. Thank you, in advance, for your prayers.

Beautiful Moms and Kids

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to take pictures of my beautiful cousins and their gorgeous kids!

These are some of my favorite little guys to hang out with so we had loads of fun together.

Little J loved to tease the camera. His sweet little smile makes your heart melt.

Can you believe that he is only 17 months old?????? He is a future linebacker! :)

He's ready to upgrade from smalltown photographer shoots to GQ magazine!

Oh that precious face!!! Don't you just want to squeeze those chubby little cheeks?

These guys are my son DJ's best friends here.

We found a tunnel that just happened to have the most AMAZING light! The kids enjoyed the tunnel because there was a lot of echo...echo...echo.

Big J was a natural model. As soon as the camera moved his way, he was already posing.

Awww...the beautiful moms of the gorgeous kids.

Remember baby DC, the mystery baby? Here he is sporting some "sneakers".

Moms and kids. I have been blessed to watch all of them grow up. You girls are all grown up and have grown into wonderful moms!

Who doesn't love a baby? I love how Little J can't help but lightly touch baby DC.

Youngest to oldest. 9 years between them. All beautiful!

Mystery Baby Revealed

Friday, we presented this little cutie's mom and dad with their suprise - a slide show featuring baby DC. The song is a sweet song about a mother's love. Grab a tissue! :)

Baby DC was only 5 weeks old when we had his session last Monday. It was also his mom and dad's 1st wedding anniversary (Happy Anniversary, mom and dad!). He stayed awake for most of the session and was as Angelic as could be!

I just love his hair. The challenge was getting ALL of it in the frame! :)

He is just too sweet. I loved when he would start to fuss a little. It gave me the opportunity to hold this sweet guy and cuddle with him. Did I mention that his mom and I are cousins? :)

OH THAT FACE!!!

Baby DC, tell us who's number 1?
